The first step: Tin plating - laying the foundation for electrical connection
Tin plating is the first step in light strip manufacturing, ensuring reliable soldering and conductivity. The machine automatically feeds the flexible circuit board and coats the solder pads with tin. After inspection, the boards are ready for the next stage.
Step 2: Soldering Paste Application - Precisely "Planting" LED Chips onto the Circuit Board
SMT placement is the process of precisely positioning LED chips, resistors, and other components onto the pre-tinned circuit board. Once placed, the boards pass through a reflow oven, where controlled heat melts the solder to form strong, reliable joints.
Step 3: Splicing – Joining Short PCB Segments Into One Long LED Strip
Single circuit boards are only short in length, yet LED strips often need to span several meters or even tens of meters. How is this achieved? The process is known as splicing: workers weld separate circuit boards end to end to create one uninterrupted long strip. After splicing finishes, the complete LED strip is wound onto a reel and passed on to the next production process.
Step 4: Depaneling – Separating Individual Thin Strips From the Whole Panel
This procedure splits the interconnected large circuit panel into standalone narrow LED strips. Once separated, the electrodes on both ends of each strip must be kept clean for easy power connection later. For waterproof LED strips, adequate space needs to be reserved at the strip ends to accommodate silicone sealing afterwards.
Step 5: Silicone Extrusion - Dressing the Light Strip with a "Protective Coat"
This key step involves silicone encapsulation. Liquid silicone is spread uniformly across the bead-mounted LED strip by machine, just like squeezing toothpaste. Upon heating and curing, it turns into a soft, tight transparent protective layer. This layer keeps the strip waterproof and dustproof, evens out light distribution, and produces softer, prettier lighting effects.
Step 6: Light-up Test - The "Test Standard" of Quality
After silicone extrusion, every light strip undergoes a rigorous illumination test to verify its electrical and optical performance. Any defective units are immediately flagged for rework or disposal, ensuring only fully qualified products move on to packaging.
Step 7: Mounting the shaft - Arrange neatly and prepare for shipment
As the final step, the winding process neatly coils the qualified light strips onto packaging spools or paper reels. The strips are then protected with film or bubble wrap, labeled with specifications, and packed for storage.
